The Addis Ababa City Administration intends to contract out seven divisions’ worth of twenty-four service deliveries. According to Tassew Gebre, in an interview with Voice of America Amharic Service, the goal of this move is to improve the delivery of public services. The cabinet level made the decision.
The majority of the services that are being outsourced are related to land. The administration plans to put these reforms into effect to reduce spending on the government and eliminate poor governance practices within those departments.

One of the most prevalent issues facing the construction industry today is project delays, which can have a wide range of detrimental consequences for the project and its stakeholders. This study set out to evaluate the primary reasons behind construction delays in public buildings under the Addis Ababa Administration, with a primary focus on grade one contractors.
The most significant and crucial causes of public building construction delay-causing factors were assessed and ranked based on the RRI (Ranking and computation of relative importance index) values from the data collected in a questionnaire survey of three groups of respondents: clients, consultants, and contractors in the construction industry. In these projects, 42 delay-causing events in the Addis Ababa public building construction projects were identified and categorized into five main category groups.

Synopsis Many obstacles impede middle-class and upper-class developers’ self-build housing projects (SBHPs), delaying the completion of the project by several months. This paper’s main goal is to determine the significant delay factors by analyzing the components that contribute to SBHP delays. Twenty variables were identified through a review of the literature and expert advice, and these were used in a structured questionnaire to gather information from Wa Municipality owners, consultants, and builders. The data analysis included mean ranking, t-test analysis, and reliability test.
The first delay cause identified by the data was “Delay in obtaining a permit from Local Authorities,” which was followed by “Poor site management and supervision.” “Inadequate cost estimation and related details” from consultants was the delay reason that scored lowest. The report suggests that government organizations in charge of overseeing physical development step up public education, with a focus on duties and obligations, particularly for those who build their own homes.
